One night.....

This collage was done as part of a story board I am doing in the hopes of illustrating a new children's book for Magabala books. It is the first of 24 double page spreads, hopefully you will get to see all the others come to life soon! fingers crossed.

The twelve days of inspiration

This is an illustration I have done for a project at tafe. I am illustrating the 'twelve days of inspiration' and this is day six! each day comes with a new illustration and a new verse.

On the sixth day of inspiration,
My client emailed me
Six layout changes,
Five free type faces,
Four contact numbers,
Three of his own sketches,
Two PDF's,
And a request for a discounted fee.

And so on:-) I will be posting all twelve days and their verses soon!

Defying Gravity

This illustration was done on illustration board with pencil. The aim of this work was to pay attention in particular to atmosphere and lighting. We were to illustrate the sentence 'No matter how hard he tried his feet would not touch the ground' in a unique and individual way. I must say I feel quite sorry for this little pig and hope he gets down soon!

Poster Collage

This is a collage I did based on the most beautiful vintage poster I found in France (see smaller image to the right). I used ripped up pieces of an old dictionary for the background, fabric for the little girls dress, and different types of paper (including sand paper) for the cats. It was then all stuck down on illustration board (with several tubs of glue) and photocopied.

Paper Light Sculpture

This is a two meter tall paper light sculpture I did for a design project at Tafe. It was made over several weeks using only paper, glue, and wire. The lamp stand itself runs through the middle of the sculpture and carries three light bulbs positioned at the bottom, middle and top. Paper sculpture and illustration can produce some beautiful results however patience is a must. I think I will have to wait awhile before undertaking such a huge project again (mainly to let the paper cuts heel!).

Winter Girl

Meet Winter Girl and her cute little kitty Molly. This is the first of a series of prints I am doing for my Etsy shop and an art market later on in the year. This is a multi media image made by scanning in textured card and fabric then compiling the work in Ai. I plan to work with this technique regularly as I feel it has great potential for interesting and unique work. Stay tuned for Summer Girl!
